HEY THERE

We’re the Auckland University Canoe Club.

AUCC offers whitewater kayaking and rafting adventures for all skill levels. Many of our new members have never touched a paddle, however our weekly pool trainings and beginner trips quickly develop their skills. For those with more experience the club also offers the opportunity to paddle more challenging rivers and rub shoulders with some of New Zealand's top kayakers.

Three Days on the Mohaka

1 October 2026

The long weekend delivered blue skies, cold mornings and some of the best scenery in the North Island. Day one was a relaxed grade 2 warm-up. Day two took the stronger group into the gorge while the rest practised ferry glides and eddy turns. The potluck was the real highlight. We will be back next year.

Six weeks, forty new paddlers and more capsizes than we could count. By the final session over half the group had a reliable roll. See you all on the river.

First Strokes: Beginner Pool Series Wrap-Up

Sixteen of us squeezed into the vans before sunrise and reached Tūrangi to find the river at a perfect level. The first few rapids claimed a couple of swimmers, but by lunch everyone had found their rhythm. Highlights included a clean line down the final rapid from our newest members. Thanks to everyone who drove, cooked and fished boats out of eddies.
